In man, deficiency in the enzyme results inFabry's disease (X-linked sphingolipidosis). Alpha-N-acetylgalactosaminidase catalyses the hydrolysis of terminal non-reducing N-acetyl-D-galactosamineresidues in N-acetyl-alpha-D-galactosaminides [].
