The archaeal equivalent group II chaperonin is often called the thermosome. Both are somewhat related to the group I chaperonin of bacteria, GroEL/GroES.The TCP1 complex has a double-ring structure with central cavities where protein folding takes place []. Each ring is composed of eight different subunits []. CP1 is involved in the folding of may proteins, including actin and tubulin [, ].
