SLC26A7 has been reported to exhibit the Cl-/HCO3- exchange activity [] and the pH-regulated Cl- channel activity with minimal OH-/HCO3- permeability []. Mouse SLC26A7 is localised in the basolateral membrane of gastric parietal cells and of Alpha intercalated cells (A-IC) in outer medullary collecting duct [, ]. Deletion of SLC26A7 in mice causes distal renal tubular acidosis and impaired gastric acid secretion [].Note: DIDS is a stilbene sulfonate that can be used to inhibit anionic transport.
