Description:  WRKY transcription factors are one of the most important transcription factor families from plants []. They have a distinct WRKY domain which contains a highly conserved amino acid sequence WRKYGQK at the N terminus and a metal chelating zinc finger motif at the C terminus. Members of the WRKY family can be classified into three groups according to the number of WRKY domains and the pattern of the zinc finger motif. Generally, group I contains two WRKY domains, whereas group II and III contain one WRKY domain with a C2H2 zinc finger motif and C2HXC zinc finger motif. Furthermore, members of group II can be divided into five subgroups (IIa, IIb, IIc, IId, and IIe) based on phylogenetic analysis [].WRKY transcription factors interact with the W-box (TTGAC[T/C]) sequence, a frequently occurring elicitor-responsive cis-acting element [, ].This group represents a group of II-e type WRKY transcription factors from monocotyledons.
