It contains a beta-alpha-alpha-beta conformation, with the beta strands forming an antiparallel beta sheet and the two alpha helices packing on one side of this sheet []. It may have a general peptidoglycan binding function. This domain can also be found in some eukaryotic proteins, such as the nuclear receptor coactivators and oxidation resistance protein 1.
