In most flowering plants, SI systems are controlled by a single multi-allelic locus termed the S-locus. Other members of this group do not play a role in SI [], and some members are from self-compatible plants such as Oryza sativa(Rice) and Arabidopsis thaliana(Mouse-ear cress), neither of which possess the SI response. and from Brassica oleracea(Wild cabbage), as well as from A. thaliana, are reported to possibly have overlapping roles in both defence and development [, ].The proteins in this family contain an extracellular D-mannose-binding lectin domain (), an S-locus glycoprotein family domain (), a PAN domain (), and an intracellular kinase domain ().
