Type: | Family | Name: | Coronin 1B |
Description: | Coronins belongs to the WD40-repeat family, which contains the WD40 motifs that act as the protein-protein interaction sites. There are several isoforms of Coronin in mammalian cells []. Coronin 1B can control actin dynamics in two different ways. On one hand, Coronin 1B protects new (ATP-rich) filaments from F-actin severing Cofilin and recruits Arp2/3 complex to filament sides, leading to nucleation, branching and network expansion []. On the other hand, Coronin 1B dismantles old (ADP-rich) filaments by inducing Arp2/3 dissociation in lamellipodia [, ]. These two functions are required for effective lamellipodial protrusion and cell migration []. The interaction between Coronin 1B and the Arp2/3 complex is regulated by protein kinase C (PKC) phosphorylation []. | Short Name: | Coro1b |
