Protein Domain : IPR030330

Type:  Family Name:  Sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase 3
Description:  SERCA3 belongs to the IIA subfamily of P-type ATPases, whose members are Ca2+ ATPases that catalyse the hydrolysis of ATP coupled with the transport of calcium across the membrane. SERCA3 is a specialised Ca2+ pump, known as SERCA pump, which is localised in sarcoplasmic reticulum and endoplasmic reticulum []. This entry also includes SERCA3 homologues from insects. There are several alternatively spliced SERCA3 isoforms in humans that are involved in maintaining normal heart function []. In cancer cells, SERCA3 is involved in cell differentiation and tumorigenesis []. Mutations in the human SERCA3 gene are also associated with type 2 diabetes []. Short Name:  SERCA3
