Protein Domain : IPR030342

Type:  Family Name:  Phospholipid-transporting ATPase IA
Description:  Phospholipid-transporting ATPase IA (also known as ATP8A1 or ATPIA) belongs to subfamily IV of the P-type ATPases family, whose members transport phospholipids across the membrane. ATP8A1 and the CDC50 family proteins form a complex that mediates the translocation of aminophospholipids such as phosphatidylserine (PS) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) from the outer to inner leaflets of the plasma membrane []. This complex plays a major role in cell migration []. ATP8A1 plays a role in lipid asymmetry and vesicle trafficking []. In mice, mutations in the ATP8A1 gene is associated with phosphatidylserine externalisation in hippocampus and delayed hippocampus-dependent learning []. Short Name:  ATP8A1
