Protein Domain : IPR010359

Type:  Domain Name:  HTH domain, IrrE-type
Description:  Metalloprotease IrrE from Deinococcus deserti is essential for radiation resistance. It cleaves and inactivates repressor protein DdrO, leading to the upregulation of several DNA repair and other genes after exposure of the cells to radiation []. The IrrE central domain is folded in a three-helix bundle, with the second and third helices forming the HTH motif []. This domain is also found in the metallopeptidase ImmA from Bacillus subtilis [] and in HTH-type transcriptional regulators RamB [] and PrpC []. HTH domains are found in many transcriptional regulators. Short Name:  HTH_IrrE
